
Pastor: Dr. Richard E. Wynne

Dr. Wynne is a native of Mount Airy, North Carolina. He graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC with a B.S. in biology. Richard completed a Masters of Divinity with Languages degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and then earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Theological School of Drew University in Madison, NJ. He has completed additional studies in pastoral care and counseling and church consulting. He became pastor of St. John's in November 1985 after serving as Pastor of Gatesville Baptist Church in Gatesville, NC, for more than seven years.
Richard is married to Betty, who serves as our church organist/pianist. They are the parents of Joshua, Zachary, Sam, and Hannah.
Minister of Music: Rev. Jeffery L. Mobley, Sr.

Jeff Mobley is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. He was graduated from Old Dominion University in 1976 with a B.A. in English. He completed his Masters of Divinity with Church Music Degree in May 1985 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Jeff was ordained by Western Branch Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia in November 1986.
Jeff is employed full-time with the NC Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services, where he serves as the Statewide Hard of Hearing Program Coordinator. He has become recognized and been awarded for his work with this special needs population not only across the state but on the national level as well. He has received specialized training in the following areas: Spiritual Counseling, Substance Abuse, the Hearing Loss Populations, Deaf Culture and American Sign Language (ASL).
Jeff was married to the late Becky Mobley and has one son, Jeff, Jr.

Minister of Youth and Children: Melissa Gunter

Melissa Gunter is a native of Eustis, Florida. She moved to North Carolina to attend Campbell University in Buies Creek. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Christian Ministries in December 2007, and is currently working on her Masters of Divinity specializing in Christian Education at Campbell University. She and her husband, David, have just welcomed their first child, Carissa.
Organist/Pianist: Rev. Betty Wynne
Betty Hopper Wynne has served as our organist/pianist since 1986. A native of Eden, NC, she graduated with a B.A. degree in Religion/Music in 1975. Along with her husband, Richard, she graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, with a Masters of Divinity with Languages degree. Since 1992, she has worked at the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in Cary, most recently in the office of North Carolina Baptist Men. She was ordained by St. John’s in April 2007.

Administrative Assistant: Pam Skillman
Pam Skillman is a native of Irvington, Kentucky. She moved to Raleigh in 1984 with her husband, Bob and attended North Carolina State University. She has served St. John’s as Administrative Assistant since 2003. Pam and Bob have two children, Kari and Zack.
