Rev. Scott Hovey
Pastor
 
Scott Hovey began serving St. John’s as associate minister in January, 2014 and then in July of 2018 was called as pastor.  
 
Before coming to St. John’s, Scott served for nine years as Associate Minister at Temple Baptist Church in Durham, NC. He holds degrees from the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA (BA in Political Science) and Duke Divinity School (M.Div.). Scott has a passion for presenting Scripture in new and life-changing ways. He enjoys reading theology, watching epic films, and listening to music.

 

He is married to Heather Hieserman and they have four children: Marco, Ryon, Mary-Addision, and Eleanor. Scott is a native of Southern California.
Jeff Mobley is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. He was graduated from Old Dominion University in 1976 with a B.A. in English. He completed his Masters of Divinity with Church Music Degree in May 1985 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Jeff was ordained by Western Branch Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia in November 1986.
 
Jeff is employed full-time with the NC Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services, where he serves as the Statewide Hard of Hearing Program Coordinator. He has become recognized and been awarded for his work with this special needs population not only across the state but on the national level as well. He has received specialized training in the following areas: Spiritual Counseling, Substance Abuse, the Hearing Loss Populations, Deaf Culture and American Sign Language (ASL).
 
Jeff was married to the late Becky Mobley and has one son, Jeff, Jr.

Justin Lockamy
Interim Director
Youth and Children Ministries
 
 
 
Justin Lockamy is serving as our Interim Director of Youth and Children Ministries.  Justin is a native of Raleigh and currently a student at
North Carolina State University.
 
Justin serves his college campus as cofounder of the
Cooperative Baptist Student Fellowship, CBSF, and is the President of CBFNC Collegiate State Ministry.
 
Justin also works at a local school supervising children in after school activities.  He has served on many missions teams including many trips to Honduras. 
 
Nancy Cashion is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Recreation Administration concentrating in Therapeutics.
 
After working with United Cerebral Palsy in Adult Day Care for 4 ½ years, she returned to school and received an Associate of Applied Science in Data Processing from Wake Technical Community College. She retired after 28 years as a Systems Analyst with Wake County Government Information Systems and became Administrative Assistant at St. John’s in May of 2013.
 
Nancy is married to Ted. Together they are involved in Kairos Prison Ministry, Heart of Carolina Emmaus and have worked since 2002 to help resettle several Montagnard refugee families to the Raleigh area.
